VAASTU SHASTRA | SITE SOIL

In Vaastu Shastra, the Selection of a Site is very important since the Site represents a fixed form that radiates positive as well as negative energies depending on its location, orientation, shape, slope and soil quality. Therefore, these are the 5 important aspects to be considered when selecting a Site.

According to Vaastu Shastra, the quality of the soil should be checked before buying the Site, because good quality soil can support the building structure well and prevent water seepage into the foundation of the building.

In case you already own a Site, you can still refer to the Vaastu Shastra Guidelines for Site Selection, to help you evaluate your Site, and if necessary, make corrections to make it suitable. Here are some Vaastu guidelines to aid you in the Selection of a Site with the ideal 'Soil'.

IDEAL TYPE OF SOIL IN A SITE ACCORDING TO VASTU SHASTRA:

• Cultivable land: While purchasing land, it is ideal to buy land that can be cultivated, i.e., where the vegetation can grow.

• Generally the soil which is good for cultivation like red, brick red, brown, yellow soil etc is also good for the foundation of a building.

• Avoid black and clayey soil which is not good for cultivation, as it is also not good for buildings as it retains water and can cause dampness to the foundation.

• Avoid rocky soil because it may be an indication that there is rock below which will have to be blasted out.

• Avoid land with lot of worms.

• Avoid a Site in which a grave has been found while excavating.

TESTS FOR CHECKING THE SUITABILTY OF THE SOIL FOR CONSTRUCTION:

According to King Bhoj, the ancient Indian Vastu Specialist, there are two simple tests to test the soil type.

• Refilling a pit with soil: Dig a 2'x2'x2' hole and then fill it up again.If some soil is left over after filling, the land is good. If there is no soil left after filling up, it is average.

• Filling a pit with water: Dig another 2'x2'x2' hole and fill it with water.

• If the time taken to absorb the water is more than an hour, it is good.

• After the water is absorbed, if there are many cracks in the hole then it is not good.

This exercise is just a guideline to help you to evaluate whether the Soil of a Site is as per Vaastu Shastra principles. Accordingly, you can decide if you want to buy the Site. In case you already possess a Site, then you can decide whether you want to make some corrections to the Site, so that it is suitable as per Vaastu
