In Vaastu Shastra, the Selection of a Site is very important since the Site represents a fixed form that radiates positive as well as negative energies depending on its location, orientation, shape, slope and soil quality. Therefore, these are the 5 important aspects to be considered when selecting a Site.In case you already own a Site, you can still refer to the Vaastu Shastra Guidelines for Site Selection, to help you evaluate your Site, and if necessary, make corrections to make it suitable.
Here are some Vaastu guidelines to aid you in the Selection of a Site with the ideal 'Location'.
IDEAL LOCATION OF A SITE, ACCORDING TO VAASTU
Vastu Shastra lays down guidelines to aid you in the Selection of a Site with the best 'Location'. Since Vastu is a science, there is logic and reasoning behind every guideline. As an Architect, I have attempted to explain these guidelines rationally and scientifically, so that you can decide what you want to follow and what you don't.
IDEAL LOCATION OF A SITE ACCORDING TO VASTU SHASTRA:
- Peaceful, calm place with lot of greenery and good water source and good soil, for obvious reasons. Fertile soil is an indication of good soil for construction.
- When purchasing a property, trust your intution. It is a good idea to stand on the land and feel its vibration for a few moments. If you feel positive about it, consider buying the land, if not, it is probably not good for you.
- Plot with a good history: It is best to buy land where happy and successful people have lived.
- Plot with roads on all four sides is considered the best. It ensures health, wealth and happiness.
- The next best option is a Plot with roads on the North or East.
- Plots with a water source in the North, East or North-East are good.
SITES THAT ARE NOT CONSIDERED GOOD, ACCORDING TO VASTU SHASTRA
- Avoid Plots sold by a person in distress, and should be purchased only with caution.
- Avoid a haunted/dilapidated house.
- Avoid a plot or house where someone has committed suicide on it, or if there have been several deaths over a period of a couple of months.
- Avoid Sites near a public place like temple, hospital, factory, school, college, Kalyan Mantapa etc
- Avoid Sites near smelly places like a meat shop, workshop, leather tannery, laundry, shoe shop, etc.
- Avoid a Plot sandwiched between larger plots.
- Avoid Sites with obstructions like hills, tall buildings or towers on the North, North-East or East sides.
- Avoid plots with an electrical pole or power supply station in the North-East corner.
- Avoid Plots with big trees like Peepal, Mango, Banyan, Tamarind etc on it. trees, but away from the building and not in the North-East corner.
- Avoid Plots facing a T or Y intersection.
VEEDI SHOOLA IN VASTU SHASTRA:
Plots facing a T or Y intersection, where roads or lanes run right into the face of the site from different directions are called Veedi (road) Shoolas (Arrows) or Theru-kuthus. Depending on the different permutations and combinations of roads, oncoming roads, directions etc that form the Veedi Shoolas, they can be named as good, not bad, bad and very bad.
- ( E----NE ) If the oncoming road is from the East, and hits the North-East part of the Plot, it is considered a good site.
- ( N----NE ) If the oncoming road is from the North, and hits the North-East part of the Plot it is considered a good site.
- ( W----NW ) If the oncoming road is from the West, and hits the North- West part of the Plot, it is considered as a not bad site.
- ( S----SE ) If the oncoming road is from the South, and hits the South- East part of the Plot, it is considered as a not bad site.
- ( E----SE ) If the oncoming road is from the East, and hits the South- East part of the Plot, it is considered a bad site.
- ( N----NW) If the oncoming road is from the North, and hits the North-West part of the Plot, it is considered a bad site.
- ( W----SW ) If the oncoming road is from the West, and hits the South-West part of the Plot, it is considered a very bad site.
- ( S----SW ) If the oncoming road is from the South, and hits the South-West part of the Plot, it is considered a very bad site.
CORRECTIONS FOR VEEDI SHOOLAS IN VASTU SHASTRA:
If your Plot is facing an intersection, (called a Veedi Shoola), since you can see the oncoming traffic and people, you may feel a bit nervous or a lack of privacy. In order to overcome this, you can use the corner of the Plot that faces the intersection as a garage or car porch etc so that the main house is not facing the intersection. Or you could fence off that part and use it for some other purpose like a garden or outhouse etc.VAASTU EVALUATION EXERCISE FOR THE LOCATION OF THE SITE:
This exercise is just a guideline to help you to evaluate whether the Location of a Site is as per Vaastu Shastra principles. Accordingly, you can decide if you want to buy the Site. In case you already possess a Site, then you can decide whether you want to make some corrections to the Site, so that it is suitable as per Vaastu.
- Note the score for the following question and enter it in the score sheet.
- Total the points.
- The points indicate how favorable your Site is, according to Vaastu.
- The interpretation of the record of points is given at the end of the SCORE SHEET
KIND OF SURROUNDINGS | POINTS |
LAKE/WATER BODY TO NORTH-EAST | 10 |
LAKE/WATER BODY TO EAST | 9 |
LAKE/WATER BODY TO NORTH | 8 |
ELECTRIC SUB-STATION TO SE | 7 |
ELECTRIC SUB-STATION TO NW | 6 |
HILL/OBSTRUCTION TO SW | 5 |

ReplyDeleteDear Sir / Madam,
ReplyDeleteI have gone through your website. One of the best website, which is explained in details about vastu and importance according with rational and scientific reason. I have purchased North West corner plot recently which has 20% of road hit at North West (Road from North). I have consulted around 5-6 so called Vastu experts. I have received 5-6 different opinions from different people. One has told to sell the plot itself. But I wanted to find the scientific reason behind the road hit. But unfortunately I was going to wrong websites only. Now finally I have reached your web site and got impressed with your explanations, hats off to you.
One of the vastu expert said that If I build house with Main door at WEST Facing , I will get more profit and benefits from that site. Since it is corner site I asked him about havng main door at North side. He is saying that, I will not be profited as much as Main door at West side.
Please give your honest advise on the above issue.
